6 Wrist Watch Survival Hacks
A watch is a very important piece of accessory. It tells us the time and date. In fact, a watch can do more than just telling the time. For instance - a watch can show you the direction or can tell you the way to start a fire, etc. We are going to share 6 wristwatch survival hacks.
Tell Direction
Like a compass, you can use your watch that will help you to tell the time. You'll require an analog watch to know the direction, and you'll need this performed during daylight hours.
Depending on which hemisphere you're in, this process is slightly different.
Northern Hemisphere
With the clock facing upwards, on your hand lay the watch flat. And then in the direction of the sun until the hour hand is pointing, rotate the entire watch. You will see the southern hemisphere is pointing between the hour hand and the 12.
You can find out the northern hemisphere by following the same process.
Dismantle Watch
In a variety of survival situations, you can use the smaller components of a watch, and a watch contains loads of smaller components. You can open a watch from the back easily. With a sharp knife, you can pry off the backing, look for a small notch around the backplate to do this. And from the watch housing, you can easily remove the remaining components with the back of the watch removed.
Start a Fire
To make reading the time easier, over the watch face as the glass cover many watches use a convex lens. And to start a fire by focusing the sun the lens is perfect. First, clean the lens and then from your dry tinder hold it about 6 inches. To focus the sun into a point of light you can move the lens and to the sunlight hold the lens perpendicular. Now to the tinder move this point and hold this for a few seconds and then the beam of light will be incredibly hot and easily ignite the tinder and it will start the fire.

Primitive Sundial
From a watch, it may seem silly to make a sundial. This is helpful if your watch runs out of batteries and if you're stranded. Before you set out, if you know your approximate latitude then it would help. While you are stranded, this will help track the day but this isn't going to give you precise time. To do this, when the sun is at its highest above you, start by aligning by sundial to the 12. You can mark hours and minutes when the sun travels 15º westwards in one hour.

Reflector
When the aircraft passing or people are far way, to get the attention, a perfect solid back of watches is perfect reflectors. To do this, point the watch back to the sun and try to reflect the sunlight.
Hone a Knife
You can make survival things from a leather watch strap. To hone a blade, just like a strop the leather strap can be used. To secure it, fasten one end of the watch strap and then along the leather strap gently run the edge of the knife. This is really helpful.
